FY2027 standard rates (GSA)
The standard rate is the fallback. If your destination is not one of the 297 locations GSA lists separately for FY2027, the standard CONUS rate applies instead.
| FY2027 standard CONUS | Rate |
|---|---|
| Lodging, per night (before taxes) | $113 |
| Meals & incidentals, full day | $68 |
| Meals & incidentals, first and last travel day | $51 |
| Maximum for one night away (lodging + 2 travel days) | $215 |
Two rules decide which number applies on any given night. The fiscal year runs 1 October to 30 September, so a trip starting 28 September 2027 is priced at FY2027 rates for its first nights and FY2028 rates after the changeover. The lodging rate follows the month of each night, not the month you booked or filed the claim.
Lodging is a ceiling, not an allowance. You are reimbursed what you actually spend up to $113; a $95 room reimburses $95. Hotel taxes on that lodging are reimbursed separately and do not count against the cap. M&IE works the other way: under the Federal Travel Regulation it is a flat per-day amount that does not require receipts, reduced only when meals are provided to you.
The per diem calculator applies all of this to a set of dates, and the rates lookup shows a single destination month by month.
Changes from FY2026
FY2027 is a lodging-only increase. The standard lodging rate goes from $110 to $113, about 2.7%. Every M&IE tier ($68, $74, $80, $86 and $92) is unchanged from FY2026, and so is the standard $68.
| FY2026 | FY2027 | |
|---|---|---|
| Standard lodging | $110 | $113 |
| Standard M&IE | $68 | $68 |
| M&IE tiers | $68–$92 | $68–$92 |
| Listed destinations | 298 | 297 |
Among the 282 destinations listed in both years, peak lodging rose at 249, held flat at 18 and fell at 15. Not one changed M&IE tier.
The largest increases are concentrated in the west: Albuquerque, NM gains $64 at peak, San Francisco, CA $53 and Tucson, AZ $37. The largest cuts are Nashville, TN at $18, Lake Placid, NY at $13 and San Antonio, TX at $12, worth checking before you reuse last year's estimate for the same trip.
If your travel crosses 1 October 2026, the two fiscal years are priced separately night by night. There is no blended rate and no rounding to whichever year the trip started in. The calculator splits a crossing trip automatically and labels each night with the fiscal year it was priced under. FY2026 figures remain on the FY2026 rates page.
Highest-rate destinations (from data)
These are the ten highest peak lodging rates in the FY2027 CONUS data, with the month each peak falls in. Resort destinations top the list, and their peaks track their seasons: ski towns in winter, islands and mountain towns in summer.
| Destination | Peak lodging | Peak month | Low month | M&IE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Park City, UT | $499 | January | $227 | $92 |
| Nantucket, MA | $487 | June | $171 | $92 |
| Martha's Vineyard, MA | $473 | June | $199 | $92 |
| Key West, FL | $452 | February | $267 | $86 |
| Jackson / Pinedale, WY | $441 | June | $215 | $92 |
| Aspen, CO | $419 | January | $173 | $92 |
| Vail, CO | $417 | January | $205 | $92 |
| Telluride, CO | $367 | January | $186 | $92 |
| Boston / Cambridge, MA | $365 | June | $213 | $92 |
| New York City, NY | $358 | September–December | $189 | $92 |
The spread inside a single destination is the thing to watch. Park City ranges from $227 to $499 depending on the month, a difference of $272 a night on the same booking. Of the 297 FY2027 destinations, 151 vary by month and 146 hold one rate all year.
A high lodging rate does not imply a high meal rate. Key West sits fourth on lodging at $452 but falls in the $86 M&IE tier, while cities far down the lodging list still reach the top $92 tier.
M&IE breakdown table
M&IE is not a single number. Every destination falls into one of five tiers, and each tier breaks down into named meal amounts. You need the breakdown when a meal is provided (at a conference, included in a registration fee, or served on a flight), because your agency deducts that meal's amount from the day's M&IE.
| Tier | Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner | Incidentals | First/last day | Destinations |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $68 (standard) | $16 | $19 | $28 | $5 | $51 | 17 |
| $74 | $18 | $20 | $31 | $5 | $55.50 | 70 |
| $80 | $20 | $22 | $33 | $5 | $60 | 104 |
| $86 | $22 | $23 | $36 | $5 | $64.50 | 71 |
| $92 | $23 | $26 | $38 | $5 | $69 | 35 |
The $5 incidental allowance is the same in every tier and covers tips to porters and hotel staff. It is not deducted when a meal is provided: only the meal amount is.
The first/last day column is the 75% rule: on the day you leave and the day you return you receive three-quarters of the full M&IE, regardless of departure time. A two-night trip on the $80 tier therefore earns $60 + $80 + $60 = $200 in M&IE, not $240.
The $80 tier is the most common, covering 104 of the 297 FY2027 destinations. Only 17 listed destinations sit at the standard $68, though every unlisted location in the country uses it too.
